With Yuki Kobayashi and Gustaf Lagerbielke both on their way out of Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is now looking to bring in a central defender before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Quality depth at the heart of the Hoops’ backline is currently lacking, but that could be set to change.
Indeed, an early morning report in RecordSport states that Celtic have launched a £5m bid for Sheffield United centre-half Auston Trusty.

It is said that the English Championship outfit is reluctant to sell the USA international, but the Bhoys are pushing hard to make a deal happen before Friday.
Trusty, 26, joined the Blades from Arsenal last summer for just under £4.5m (Transfermarkt). He went on to play 32 times in the English Premier League last campaign as the Blades were eventually relegated.
Versatile, Trusty is adept at left-back, but he is reportedly seen as a partner to his international teammate, Cameron Carter-Vickers, at central defence.
Whether the £5m fee will be enough for Sheffield United to sell remains to be seen.
This is certainly one to monitor over the coming days.
