Report: Celtic-Linked Striker Set for Bundesliga Switch

Mathias Kvistgaarden has continually been linked with a move to Celtic; however, the Danish striker’s future at Brøndby has seemingly taken a dramatic turn.

That’s because, with Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush on the verge of a reported £67 million move to Manchester City to reignite the Citizens’ stop-start season, the Bundesliga side has reportedly been offered Kvistgaarden as a replacement by Brøndby.

Respected German outlet Bild reports that Kvistgaarden is a potential target, making a move to Glasgow for the Dane now appear more unlikely than it did just days ago.

However, there are stumbling blocks, with Arnaud Kalimuendo of Stade Rennais also a target for the 2022 Europa League winners, who will look to reinvest in the team as quickly as possible.

With Marmoush netting 15 goals in 17 league games this season, he has helped guide the Eagles to third in the Bundesliga table, just five points off second-placed Bayer Leverkusen and six off table-toppers Bayern Munich who have a game in hand.

Rennes are said to be hesitant over accepting any bids for Kalimuendo, with the Ligue 1 side themselves just a point off 16th-placed St-Étienne. A move in January for the French forward appears unlikely, paving the way for Kvistgaarden to join the Bundesliga giants.

The Danish striker has consistently scored goals for Brøndby in the Superliga, with 10 goals and 4 assists in 15 league games so far this season.

It means that Kvistgaarden, who Celtic were recently linked with again as a potential replacement this month if Kyogo were to leave, now appears in serious doubt with a transfer, potentially opening the door for other targets to emerge or for Celtic to reassess their options.
