It’s being reported by France Football that Celtic might just been tipping their toe back into French market for a centre back.

The French publication claim the club is seriously interested in bringing in Kiki Kouyate to the club to play alongside Christopher Jullien.

The Mali defender currently plays with  French Ligue 2 outfit Troyes who failed to gain promotion to the top flight last season.

The defender who came through the ranks of the Sporting Lisbon academy could be available for a reasonable price. FranceFootball claim Kouyate’s club are holding out for €4.5M at the moment and Celtic are weighing up their options.

Celtic will be in need of defensive reinforcements next term. Jozo Simunovic has now left the club and Kristoffer Ajer could leave if the right bid comes in.

As always, it’s vital to get players in as soon as possible to bed them into the side before the first game of the season.
