Celtic have been linked with a move for AC Ajaccio forward Moussa Soumano in the upcoming summer transfer window. Soumano, 19, is said to have a bright future ahead of him in France, having made 27 Ligue 2 appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

AfricaFoot report that English Premier League side Brentford have already bid €3 million for Soumano, with Thomas Frank’s side confident of landing him in the summer. However, Atalanta and Leicester City are also said to be interested, making it interesting to see if Celtic will make a bid amid stiff competition.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to target a striker in the summer, with Celtic having failed to bring in a replacement for Kyogo during the January transfer window. Instead, the Hoops have relied on a positional change from Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah, leaving the squad one striker short—something that has left supporters eager to see a marquee signing in the summer.

Soumano doesn’t appear to be that type of striker immediately. At 19, he has a lot of potential; however, what Celtic clearly need is a forward who can come in and start right away—or at the very least, provide serious competition for Maeda and Idah next season.
It is positive to hear Celtic are actively looking to sign a striker in the summer. However, if Soumano does sign, he would be expected to make the immediate step up—a lot of pressure for a young player. That said, others have thrived under similar expectations in the past, but if the Hoops are serious about improving next season, they may need to pair potential with proven quality.
