Report: Celtic Defender Agrees Exit

Greg Taylor’s six-year stint at Celtic is reportedly on the brink of coming to an end, with the left-back reportedly agreeing terms with Greek side PAOK ahead of a summer move.

The Scotland international has entered the final weeks of his Celtic contract and is now free to negotiate with other clubs. Despite Brendan Rodgers’ interest in retaining the 27-year-old, it appears Taylor is set on a new challenge abroad.

Greek outlet Sportdog reports that Taylor has agreed personal terms with PAOK, who finished third in last season’s Greek Super League.

PAOK had reportedly given Taylor a deadline to respond to their proposal, and that now seems to have been met. A two-year contract with the option of a third season is believed to be on the table. However, a final decision is still pending as Taylor wishes to consult with his family before committing to the move, particularly after the recent birth of his daughter in February.

Taylor’s time at Celtic has been marked by consistency and resilience, becoming a trusted starter in the left-back role following Kieran Tierney’s departure to Arsenal in 2019. But with Tierney now poised to return to the Hoops next month, Taylor’s prospects for regular first-team football appear increasingly limited.

PAOK are said to be keen on making Taylor feel at home in Thessaloniki and are reportedly willing to go above and beyond to accommodate the player’s personal circumstances.

If the move goes through, Taylor will leave Celtic having lifted multiple domestic honours and established himself as a steady performer across European and domestically. His departure would signal another step in the squad rebuild under Rodgers as the club reshapes ahead of the new season.
