Report – Celtic Could Replace O’Riley With Previous Midfield Target

Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley is not short of transfer interest this summer.

Just yesterday, the Hoops were said to have booted out a cheeky £15m bid from Europa League winners Atalanta for the attacking midfielder.

If O’Riley does go, Brendan Rodgers will likely have to delve into the transfer market to replace him.

Aside from Paulo Bernardo, a few midfielders have been linked with moves to Glasgow’s east end this summer, the latest being Riley McGree.

In a dubious report from HITC, it is said that the Aussie, who almost signed for the Scottish champions back in 2022, is on their radar again this summer.

Ironically, McGree turning down a move to link up with Ange Postecoglou eventually led to Celtic signing O’Riley. Now, in a bizarre turn of events, it could be the 25-year-old who replaces the Dane at Parkhead.

With a year left on his Middlesbrough contract, McGree could be available for a cut-price deal, but the current transfer link should be taken with a pinch of salt.
