Celtic winger Marco Tilio is edging closer to a permanent move to Rapid Vienna, with Austrian outlet Kurier reporting that the transfer is now progressing after previous talks had stalled.
That situation has now shifted. With Celtic working to bring in at least one new winger before the end of the window, the club have now given the go-ahead for Tilio to depart.
It marks the end of a short and largely frustrating spell in Glasgow for the 23-year-old, who failed to make an impact after arriving last year from Melbourne City.
The original plan had been for Tilio to head to Vienna on a loan deal, with Rapid reportedly willing to pay around €400,000 up front and include an option to buy if the winger made a certain number of appearances.
However, that proposal has since changed. According to the Austrian report, negotiations have taken a different turn, with both clubs now working on a straight permanent transfer.
The updated terms are said to be more favourable to the Austrian club, though specific figures have not been disclosed. Tilio, who has seen very limited game time under Rodgers, is believed to be keen on the move, with regular football a key priority as he looks to get his career back on track.

Celtic’s attacking options in the wide areas remain thin, but that hasn’t stopped the club from pressing ahead with plans to offload Tilio. With reinforcements likely to arrive before the deadline, the timing now suits all parties involved.
Should the transfer go through as expected, it would bring a swift end to Tilio’s time in Scotland, a stint that never really got going. The move offers a fresh start for the winger, and a permanent exit now appears to be just a matter of time.
