Report: Celtic Agree Preliminary £2.6m Deal

Celtic has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with Norwegian team Vålerenga to sign 20-year-old midfielder, Odin Thiago Holm.

The news emerged this morning via Norwegian outlet TV.no, although the club has yet to officially confirm the transfer. The deal, worth approximately NOK 35 million (£2.6 million), also includes a 15% sell-on clause that could potentially generate significant revenue for Vålerenga in the future.

Holm, born in 2003, is a Trondheim native. He plays as a central midfielder and has proven to be a promising talent. He scored his first goal for Vålerenga on 22 December 2020 in a decisive 4-0 victory over IK Start. His career total stands at 92 appearances with 9 goals as of the end of the 2022 season.

The young footballer has yet to undergo a medical and agree to personal terms with Celtic. However, these steps are not expected to present any issues. The finalisation of the transfer will be delayed, as Holm is currently on holiday.

Sporting director of Vålerenga, Joacim Jonsson, and agent Tore Pedersen have refrained from making any comments on the matter as they await the conclusion of formalities at Celtic’s end. The agreement comes at a pivotal time for Celtic, with the club currently without a manager. However, recent developments suggest that a change is imminent.
