Brentford are reportedly leading the chase for Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn, with the German emerging as a top target for the Premier League side as they brace for the possible departure of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.
TEAMtalk report that the Bees view Kuhn as a natural successor to Mbeumo, whose move to Old Trafford is reportedly edging ever closer. Talks between United and Brentford over a deal for the Cameroon international are said to be progressing, with only a gap in salary expectations left to bridge. United are confident of agreeing personal terms with the 25-year-old.

As Brentford potentially prepare for life without their talisman, they have reportedly identified Kuhn as the ideal replacement. The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna in January 2024 and has made a strong impact in his short time in Glasgow. His ability to beat defenders, create chances, and chip in with goals has quickly drawn attention south of the border.
Kuhn didn’t hit the ground running at Celtic, with dental issues plaguing his first six months at the club. However, in the first half of last season, he was arguably Celtic’s player of the season, before Daizen Maeda hit top form from January onwards, stepping up as Kuhn’s form fell off a cliff in the second half of the campaign.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is said to admire Kuhn’s attacking threat and pressing, similar to what Mbeumo brings to his side. With English clubs looking more to Scotland for value, Celtic could soon have a big decision to make on Kuhn’s future.
Celtic won’t want to lose a player who gave so much last season, especially with the squad already needing strengthened before the Champions League qualifiers in August. But if Brentford come in with a big offer, the decision-makers at Celtic could potentially be forced into a big call ahead of the new season.
