Serie A side Pisa have held further talks over a deal for Calvin Stengs, as they look to hijack interest from both Celtic and Leicester City, according to Sky Sport in Italy.
The Dutch winger, currently at Feyenoord, has attracted serious interest this summer after his club made it clear they were open to a sale or loan. Celtic have already made contact with the player’s representatives, as exclusively revealed by CeltsAreHere, though an official bid has yet to be submitted.
Stengs is understood to be one of the names on Celtic’s list of winger targets, with a move more likely to materialise if Brendan Rodgers’ side reach the Champions League group stages. Leicester are also keeping tabs.
Now Pisa have emerged with a new twist, holding direct talks over a potential loan deal for the 26-year-old. It’s unclear at this stage whether the Italian side can meet Feyenoord’s demands or convince Stengs to make the switch to a newly promoted Serie A outfit.
Celtic may need to act fast if they wish to sign the winger. They face Kairat Almaty tonight in what is a must-win game, and if they get through, they could look at Stengs.
