Reo Hatate Plays Host as Celtic Trio Dine Kelvinbridge

Reo Hatate has wasted no time helping Celtic’s newest recruits settle in, taking countrymen Shin Yamada and Hayato Inamura out for a meal at popular Glasgow spot La Lanterna in Kelvinbridge.

Shin Yamada was confirmed as a Celtic player on Saturday, arriving to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ attacking options. Having already played half a season in Japan, the 25-year-old striker may feature as early as Thursday night when Celtic face Ajax in their opening match of the Football On The Lake tournament.

Inamura, meanwhile, is making his own impression after initially being earmarked for a loan move. The left-back, who only made his senior debut last year, has impressed Rodgers in pre-season enough to prompt a possible rethink on his immediate future at the club.

The dinner at La Lanterna continues a well-worn Celtic tradition, with several first-team players including Matt O’Riley, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Benji Siegrist, Jota and Daizen Maeda having previously frequented the Kelvinbridge favourite.

Hatate, now one of the more experienced figures in Celtic’s Japanese contingent, is clearly playing a mentoring role for the new arrivals as they adjust to life in Glasgow. With the new campaign fast approaching, Rodgers will be hoping the off-pitch camaraderie translates into early cohesion on it.
