Rennes Boss Issues Warning as Kyogo Faces Uncertain Future

Kyogo Furuhashi’s short stint in France could already be nearing its end, with Rennes boss Habib Beye delivering a pointed message to his squad as the Ligue 1 side prepares for a summer overhaul.

The former Celtic forward has struggled to make an impact since his £10 million move in January, failing to score in six appearances from a possible fifteen. Now, with the season drawing to a close, his place in the French club’s future plans looks increasingly precarious.

Speaking to French outlet Foot7, Beye made it clear that only fully committed players will be part of next season’s squad.

“All the players who will be at Stade Rennes next season will be sought-after players who want to be 200 per cent involved in this project,” he said.

“Anyone who is in limbo will have to see what can happen elsewhere. But they won’t be a priority for the club.

“And that’s very clear, it’s stated by the owner, and it will be defended by the coach as I have done until now.”

The 30-year-old Kyogo has yet to find the net since leaving Parkhead and now faces an uncertain summer. The forward had been linked with a possible return to Celtic earlier in the year by some pundits, and while nothing concrete has emerged, his current situation at Rennes could open the door.

With Celtic already being linked with striking reinforcements and speculation around departures mounting, Kyogo’s future may once again become a talking point in the coming months. Whether Celtic consider a move remains to be seen, but if Rennes are preparing to offload fringe players, Kyogo’s name will likely be in the mix, but a summer return does not seem on the cards.
