It has been announced that Nick Walsh be the referee during Celtic’s Viaplay Cup final against Rangers at Hampden.
The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday 26 February at 3pm and will be the third time both sides have faced each other this season.
Rangers are yet to beat Celtic during this campaign having been beaten 4-0 at Celtic Park in September and not managing to hang on for a victory in the New Year derby as Kyogo struck late on for Ange Postecoglou’s side to rescue a point.
The VAR on the day shall be taken charge of by John Beaton and many Hoops fans will not be one bit surprised at these appointments.
Both officials have had previous run ins with Celtic in the past and have links to the Ibrox club as Walsh is a PE teacher at a school that is connected to the Rangers academy while Beaton was spotted in a Rangers supporting bar after a terrible derby refereeing performance.
VAR caused a storm in the last fixture between both Glasgow sides as Celtic were denied a clear penalty after Carl Starfelt’s shot was blocked by Connor Goldson’s two hands and many wouldn’t be surprised if it takes centre stage again.

Everything is now starting to build towards the final but first the league leaders will face Aberdeen at Celtic Park which Willie Collum will take charge of.
