Celtic are back on the road for the first time this season at the weekend as they travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen, with John Beaton appointed as the match referee for Sunday’s lunchtime clash.

The Scottish champions began their title defence with a narrow 1-0 victory over St Mirren at Celtic Park, and Brendan Rodgers will be looking for a sharper performance against what’s expected to be a tough test in the Granite City.
Aberdeen opened their season on Monday night with a 2-0 loss in the capital to Hearts.
Beaton will be the man in the middle, supported by assistant referees David McGeachie and Graeme Stewart. In the VAR room, Andrew Dallas will be on duty, with Alan Mulvanny acting as his assistant. [SFA]
It’s a high-profile appointment for Beaton, who has officiated many significant Celtic fixtures in the past. With the game set to be shown live on Sky Sports, all eyes will be on the officials as well as Rodgers’ side, who are still trying to find their rhythm amid a summer of limited transfer activity.
The arrival of Simpson-Pusey has been confirmed, but fans are still desperate to see quality additions on the wings.
Kick-off is scheduled for 12.30 pm on Sunday.
