Record Ten Year High – Celtic’s Major Euro Boost

It may only be one game in to Celtic’s Europa league campaign but this is already Scotland’s best season in terms of coefficient in ten years.

Twitter Euro Coefficient expert Moravcik67_ keeps a close eye on the numbers in what ultimately affects how many qualifiers a Scottish club will play before getting into the group stages in future.

With Celtic and Rangers* both having positive results in Europe it means Scotland’s coefficient has jumped from 26th place to 21st in the rankings.

If both clubs continue to have positive results in a Europe there is a scenario Scotland could go to high as 19th in the rankings that would see the SPFL winners play one less qualifier in future.

Celtic got off to a winning start against a Rosenborg on Thursday night thanks to a late goal from Leigh Griffiths.

The Ibrox club got a surprise draw in Spain.

Brendan Rodgers set a goal of ten points in their Europa League group, just seven more to go.
