Ferencvaros manager, Sergei Rebrov has been awarded with the Order of Merit reward, in his home country Ukraine, after Wednesday nights shock victory over Celtic.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham striker was given one of the highest honours you can be given in Ukraine, by president Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by the Daily Record.
This just further magnifies the significance of this result and how much of a shock it really was.
It was the first time the Hoops has been knocked out at the second round qualifying stage of the Champions League in 15 years, against Artmedia Bratislava. A game in which current manager Neil Lennon, led out as captain. This is also the third year in a row that the Scottish Champions have been unable to qualify for the Champions League.
The result, really was a disappointing one but we must now put that behind us. I hope we don’t repeat the same mistakes yet again as we really need to learn from them this time or we will have even more games like Ferencvaros, Cluj or Copenhagen in the future.
Now, we must get back behind the team as the prepare to get back to league action, tomorrow against Motherwell at Celtic Park
