Reaction: Striker Signing Puts End to Major Celtic Fan Concern

A lot of Celtic fans have been sceptical about Ange Postecoglou getting his say when it comes to coaches and player transfers.

Today’s news that Celtic have completed a move for Kyogo Furuhashi is the clearest indication yet the Australian is starting to pull the strings behind the scenes.

Ange was named the Celtic manager over a month ago but didn’t get going until nearer the end of June when his quarantine was over.

Since then, the club have brought in Osaze Urhoghide and Liel Abada. Signing Kyogo will give the manager and Celtic more options up front.

Edouard is still expected to leave this summer and Celtic must prepare for that eventuality.

Kyogo is coming in with a good pedigree, but he will come into a new country and a new league. There are no guarantees he will adjust but Ange will know all about him and we have to trust the manager’s instincts.

Postecoglou knows the J-League inside out and if he’s cherry-picking a player from the competition – it’s a player who clearly excites him.

Celtic’s first Champions League qualifier is on Tuesday and Celtic can add just one player to their squad 24 hours before the game. No new signing would likely play in the fixture at this point and Celtic will have to go with what they have.
