Celtic defender Auston Trusty revealed that the feeling in the Hoops’ dressing room post-match was not entirely positive, despite securing a point away from home in the Champions League.
With Trusty starring at the back for Celtic in Zagreb, the USA international has now played in back-to-back clean sheets away from home in the Champions League, highlighting what he has brought to the club since joining in the summer from Sheffield United for a reported £6 million.
However, despite yet another impressive performance, Trusty expressed his disappointment with the lack of goals at the other end.
He said: (TNT Sports), “Yeah, we’ll take the point, but we came here for three.
“To get a point away from home is good, but we should have got all three.
“It was an opportunity for us to get three points, but we got one.”
Trusty has proven to be an inspired signing, elevating the Hoops defensively and fitting in seamlessly alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers.
This comes after a somewhat slow start, during which he struggled to impress against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup.
The USA international is right to point out that, up top, Celtic weren’t quite at their best. Dinamo Zagreb seemed there for the taking, given their poor domestic form and lengthy injury list.
However, the game didn’t materialise in that fashion, with Celtic often having more possession in the middle of the park than in the attacking areas where they would have hoped to test the Croatian champions.
After such a poor away performance against Borussia Dortmund, where the Hoops conceded seven in Germany, a clean sheet away from home is impressive. However, something was certainly lacking up top and in the middle of the park this evening.
