Rangers Given Yet Another Questionable Penalty

Rangers have been awarded yet another questionable penalty, with Fabio Silva going down in the box.

Despite referee John Beaton initially booking Silva for diving, VAR intervened, with Rangers being awarded a penalty despite minimal contact, at best, from Alistair Johnston.

What John Beaton saw from VAR is beyond confusing, as it was clear that Silva was already on the way down, having looked to buy fouls throughout the game.

VAR’s intervention yet again was questionable, as it was clear that Johnston could not have moved his leg away from Silva any quicker.

With Chris Sutton in commentary himself not believing it warranted a penalty to Rangers.

What Brendan Rodgers thinks of the decision will be clearer after the game, but the Irishman may very well be cautious in what he says, having missed the Livingston game last weekend due to a one-match suspension for his comments on John Beaton’s VAR intervention against Hearts at Tynecastle.
