Rangers boss Michael Beale has once again made bizarre comments about league leaders Celtic.
Both Glasgow clubs will take each other on in their first match of 2023 and many believe that the Ibrox club need to win the game if they are to have any hope in the title race as Ange Postecoglou’s side currently sit nine points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership.
First up for Celtic will be a tough test at Easter Road midweek before making the short trip to the south of the city to take on their city rivals.
It shall be a new test for the Hoops as they have yet to face a Rangers side managed by Beale but will be hoping to go into the fixture confident after winning the previous encounter at Ibrox 2-1 as Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers fired the Hoops to victory.
The sides have only met once so far this season and Celtic battered the Ibrox side 4-0 which on the day really could have been anything and that seems to be the game which the former QPR boss wants to draw significant attention towards.
“The difference is nine points, but we’ve only played each other once and they won that game, deservedly,” said Beale as quoted by The Herald.
“So, the difference should be three points, shouldn’t it? It should. We are six points behind against the other teams in the league, the other 10 that we play. That is the disappointing thing.
Unfortunately, that just isn’t the way it works and so far this season Celtic have shown incredible consistency in the league having one 17 of their last 18 games in the league.
