Pundit Urges Celtic To Target SPFL Stopper

Former Celtic player and Sky Sports pundit Davie Provan has urged the Hoops to move on from Joe Hart and target Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist.

Writing in his weekly column for Sun Sport, Provan believes the club would be better targeting the Swiss stopper rather than Hart due to Siegrist earning a fraction of the Englishman’s wage and the poor form he has shown in recent seasons down south.

“ANGE POSTECOGLOU should ignore any advice to sign Joe Hart.

“There’s a reason Hart was bombed by England, Manchester City and couldn’t get a game for Burnley. He’s always had a ricket in him.

“For a fraction of Hart’s wages, Celts could sign Dundee United’s Benji Siegrist, who’s now in the last year of his contract.

“No brainer.”

Continuing over from last season, Celtic’s goalkeeping problems have shown in the early stages of the 2021/22 campaign.

Both Vasilias Barkas and Scott Bain have been far from convincing between the sticks, which has seen the club move for the Tottenham Hotspur keeper.

Some fans have stated their disappointment at the club for looking at Hart as a replacement. Despite him possibly being an upgrade, you can’t help but feel we can get better for our money.

That goes for Siegrist too. He had a good campaign with Dundee United last season, but surely we should be looking for someone younger and at a better level?

It remains to be seen what will happen going forward in our pursuit of a new number one. At this point, it looks likely Hart will be on his way to Glasgow.
