Since joining the club in the summer, it has been a bit of a difficult start for former Sheffield Wednesday duo Liam Shaw and Osaze Urgohide.
The two players were highlighted as the standouts in a disappointing season for the Owls but departed the club, moving to Glasgow as their contracts came to an end.
Speaking to ‘This Is Futbol’, former Wednesday midfielder and now pundit Carlton Palmer has criticised the club for the way both players were able to leave.
“They should never have got into the position where they were out of contract. That’s Sheffield Wednesday’s fault.
“They should have secured the players well, well before that. If you’ve got good players, you don’t let them get into that situation unless you want to lose them, and that’s what’s happened.”
This sort of story of a young player departing the club will sound very familiar to Celtic fans, with several of our young talents doing so in the last few years.
It has undoubtedly been a contrast, though, in terms of success, with Shaw and Urgohide both struggling to make an early impact in Glasgow.
A loan move should definitely be an avenue which the duo look to go down, given the very little play time they have seen all campaign, including in pre-season.
There is always a hope that young players can come good and shouldn’t be entirely written off, with the perfect example at the club in Tony Ralston.
However, they look a long way off becoming a success at the club at this point in time.
