Simon Jordan, the talkSPORT co-host, has called on the Green Brigade to “grow up” in response to their continued resentment towards Brendan Rodgers.

The fan group recently reiterated their displeasure at Rodgers’ return to Celtic, reminding followers of a banner they displayed in 2019 when Rodgers left for Leicester City. The banner read: “You traded immortality for mediocrity. Never a Celt, always a fraud.”

Jordan, however, has urged the fans to accept the realities of football, where successful managers are often lured away by more lucrative offers and larger platforms. He has encouraged the Green Brigade to move past their grievances now that Rodgers has returned to Celtic.
Jordan also challenged Rodgers to make a significant impact in Europe, something he believes Rodgers’ predecessor, Ange Postecoglou, failed to do. He cited Rangers’ successful run to the Europa League final last year as a benchmark for Rodgers to aim for.
Commenting on the group’s reaction to Rodgers’ appointment, Jordan said: [TalkSPORT]
“He’ll have priced that into his thinking and they’ll have thought of that brand of resistance. If he starts losing games he’ll have a problem, but is there anything feeling Celtic aren’t going to be as strong?
“They are the fans that pack the stadium out every week and expect everyone to stay there until their last breath. Brendan Rodgers had the temerity to say ‘I’m off. I’ve been offered an opportunity and I’m going to take it.’
“They’ll say the timing was all about Brendan Rodgers but with all due respect, grow up. Every decision everyone makes is about themselves. He’s not going to do a Man City. What he can do is put up a better fist of getting two points and trying to make it out of the group stage. What he can do is if they drop into the Europa League, is punch their weight in that competition after the model was set by Rangers.”
