Pundit Hits Out At Transfer Deadline Day Exit

Sky Sports pundit and former Celtic player Davie Provan has hit out at midfielder Ryan Christie for his move to English Championship side Bournemouth, insisting it was “all about money”.

As quoted by the Daily Record, speaking on Go Radio, Provan admitted he was surprised to see the 26-year old complete a late move to the south coast as he insisted he did not understand the move.

“The big shock for me was Ryan Christie at Bournemouth.

“What is that about? Why did Ryan Christie leave Celtic to go to a club like Bournemouth?

“I mean it’s village green stuff down there. I don’t care how much money he is on.

“It’s 11,500 when the ground is full and they could lose 3-0 and get applauded off the pitch.

“It’s unbelievable. I just don’t get it.

“Clearly, it’s all about money but to leave Celtic to go to Bournemouth is staggering.”

It has been a very up and down past few months for Ryan Christie at Celtic.

Last season, the midfielder faced a lot of criticism for his performances on the park. However, at the early points of this season, he looked to have improved under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

On Tuesday night, he completed his exit away from the club to join Bournemouth. With Christie having six months left on his contract, in a sense, it forced the deal.

At the same time, it seems strange to make a move to the second tier in English Football. A good few months at Celtic could have potentially seen him in the Premier League.

Over the next year, we will have to wait and see if his risk pays off.
