Celtic’s stalwart defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers, is in contention to play this weekend, overcoming a hamstring worry from the Hibs match.
However, Brendan Rodgers, stated the decision rests on a medical scan’s results, also considering the artificial surface at Kilmarnock.
The Celtic fans were apprehensive when Carter-Vickers didn’t return for the second half against Hibs. Rodgers, however, allayed these fears post-match, saying it was a precautionary measure.
A lengthy absence is not anticipated, but the Hoops have proceeded with a scan as a safeguard.
On Carter-Vickers’ condition, Rodgers remarked, “We’ll assess Cam over the next couple of days. He didn’t pull his hamstring but we just had an MRI scan on that to make sure he’s OK. We’ll await the results of that.”
Regarding his availability for the weekend, Rodgers responded succinctly, “Well, if the scan shows nothing, then clearly.”
Rodgers also admitted the impact of Kilmarnock’s astro pitch on his decision-making, stating, “You have to think clearly about the surface if there’s guys that have certain injuries, knees, ankles or whatever.
It is a consideration but I won’t overthink it either. It’s a tough game for us so we want to have the strongest squad available to try and win it,” emphasising the challenge ahead for The Hoops.
