MUCH HAS BEEN MADE over whether Jota will extend his stay at Celtic or return to his parent club in the summer.

After his stellar performance on Sunday, which earned him a place in the SPFL’s team of the week, fans are calling for the club to trigger their option to buy clause they have installed into the loan bhoy’s contract.

Jota has already ducked the question, saying he’s focussing on what’s happening now, not after the summer.

Postecoglou was then asked about the player’s future, to which he replied; [SunSport]

“If anyone thinks we’re thinking of anything other than what happened today [Sunday], well…

“For all of us the most important thing is that we work hard to get a successful year out of this.

“Whatever happens beyond that, these conversations, there are two parties and if two parties want the same thing, then it will happen.

It’d be great if Jota stayed at Celtic, but let’s face it. If Benfica offers the player a new contract with a higher wage and minutes, he’s not going to turn it down.

Our superstar from Portugal has been tremendous at Celtic this season. He’s been top class not only in the league but in Europe too.

He’s been directly involved in 16 goals in the league, and 4 goals in the Europa League group stages.
