CELTIC are currently leading the title race with just eight games to be played.
Because second place progressed into the next round of the Europa League, their matches will continue to be on Sundays. In contrast, Celtic will play on a Saturday, and this means that Celtic can increase the pressure on their city rivals if they win maximum points.
Postecoglou said this gives the players no added incentive to his players when asked about this on Friday. Speaking via Celtic TV, Ange said;
“Zero.
“I don’t look at other fixtures, I do look at other results. What concerns me is what we do, that’s what we’ve done all year and that’s what we’ll continue to do.
“What happens at the end of this round in terms of wash-up of points and how the table looks, well, there’s only one fixture we can control and that’s ours.
“If we get out three-point we know where we’re gonna be. That’s for the others to find out.
“But it has zero relevance to our mindset and what we’re trying to achieve.”
What gives the players the incentive is the opportunity to lift a trophy at the end of the season; to do this, they have to win their games. By doing this, they will naturally install pressure on the Ibrox club.
Postecoglou isn’t giving much away as we head into this title race set to go down to the wire. From injury updates to squad mentality, he’s keeping his cards close to his chest.
