Celtic appointed Ange Postecoglou last summer, taking a risk on the manager. He was a relatively unknown name to the Celtic fans, but it wouldn’t be long before it was being chanted from the stands.
He came in and got straight to work. He had to evaluate the player who was already at the club and figure out who wanted away, he didn’t have much time to do so. Then, he started bringing in his signings, players he believed would help realise Ange’s goal of winning the league in his maiden season.
Dipping into unknown markets, he brought some top talents to the club for brilliant prices.
By demonstrating that the board could trust him, he feels he has gained it. Postecoglou can walk the walk as well as talk the talk.
As quoted by The Sun, the boss said;
“The whole club has been really supportive of me.
“With Michael and Chris and the board and the key decision-makers, I think there is a fair bit of trust.
“I had to earn that trust last year, particularly in the first window. I think they feel like they understand me and what I’m trying to do. That makes things a lot easier.
“It’s not really a battle for me to try to convince people.
“I’m totally understanding of the kind of markets we need to be looking at, and financially, where we are.
“So I think that there is an alignment there within the whole club.
“That’s what I am saying. We’re not stressed about our situation. We will bring in one or two players, but I’ll make sure they are the right ones.”
Ange Has the Trust of the Fans
Most importantly, the fans are fully behind Ange. The support is excited to see where the manager can guide the club in the coming years, and under his management, they dare to dream big.
