It was a surprise to many; just under 24 hours ago, he received his player of the month award and sat in front of the media while the manager sang his praises.

Ange Postecoglou has told Sky Sports, live before the match against Aberdeen, that the winger is missing the match after he picked up a knock in training.

It doesn’t sound too serious and he should be back fit sooner rather than later.

It’s frustrating for the winger, who was starting to get into a game in the lead-up to the break, netting a few goals. His performances were also on the rise; you could see him getting sharper each week after he had a disruptive season and no pre-season.

Postecoglou is expecting the player’s rise to continue and play a significant part in Celtic’s league defence.
