Postecoglou Dismisses Ibrox Comparison

Celtic return to Champions League action tonight with a tough away match to RB Leipzig.

The Scottish champions have previously visited the Red Bull Arena four years ago under Brendan Rodgers but this will be a completely different task.

With four games remaining in the competition many Celtic fans will be hoping that the club can get a positive result in Germany to set up the final three games with a chance for Celtic to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

That will be a tough ask but many will fancy the Hoops to do the business in their remaining two home games which could give them a huge advantage.

RB Leipzig were knocked out of the Europa League last season at the semi-final stage by Celtic’s league challengers and many have already begun to draw comparisons.

Ange Postecoglou has insisted that he has full focus on his team and isn’t looking at results from the past as it has ‘no relevance to Celtic.

“From our perspective it’s about what we do. We know the challenge that is there, they are a very good side,” said Ange Postecoglou speaking to PLZ Soccer.

“Since Marco Rose has gone in you can see they’re hitting their straps in terms of style of football and getting a better understanding.

“There result at the weekend was excellent, they’ve got some fantastic players, we’re just concerned with our own performance and making sure we play our football and giving them a test.”

Postecoglou will be hoping that performances begin to turn into results as Celtic would have felt disappointed to not haven taken more on the road away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Everyone within the team will need to stand up and be counted for at this level with them knowing the prize that could away after matchday six.

Celtic want to be at this level of competition every year and tonight’s match is once again about showing you can compete.
