Postecoglou Catching the eye in top European League

THOMAS BROICH has claimed that Ange Postecoglou has caught the eye in Germany after his achievements in Japan and Australia were downplayed.

The manager was relatively unknown when he moved to Celtic. Fans weren’t sure what to expect from their new boss, so they conducted their own research. Even after they had learned of Postecoglou’s achievements, many questioned whether he would be able to adapt to European football, yet, they still backed their manager.

Broich, who worked with Ange at Brisbane Roar and is now a youth coach at Hertha Berlin, has claimed that the Celtic manager has caught the eye in Germany, saying; [OptaSport]

“Yeah, they are actually (noticing Postecoglou in Germany).

“It was really weird because when he worked in Japan, obviously, he won the league.

“I think they were 15 points clear of the rest of the pack. And then they played Man City in a friendly, and they had more than 60% of the ball and all that.

“I kept talking about this guy and everybody was like, ‘Yeah, but this is Australia, this is Japan’.

“And now that he has arrived in Europe, I can actually show them clips using Wyscout and all those tools. And I’m like: ‘This is what he’s doing. This was against Rangers and look at the chances they created. Look at the second goal they scored’.

“It’s just fantastic football, like build-up play from the keeper, rotations everywhere, the defence, they don’t even know who to follow. They’re getting destabilised like crazy.

“Well, there’s always the skeptical element about it, obviously.

“It’s not the Premier League yet. But to me, it feels just like he’s edging closer, and closer, and closer.

“I just hope that one day he will get the chance to coach in one of the big, big leagues. Personally, I think he will.”

Postecoglou successfully plays the style of football top European clubs wants to play. The fast flowing attacking football is excellent on the eye and successful when the manager knows how to set up his team.

Postecoglou is said to be admired highly at Manchester City. The Citizen’s boss and Celtic’s boss have a lot of similarities. Hopefully, Postecoglou isn’t lined up to replace Pep when his contract expires in 2023.
