Postecoglou Aiming for Rodgers Record

BRENDAN RODGERS led the side on a remarkable 69 game unbeaten streak, which will unlikely be repeated.

However, Postecoglou is aiming for a similar run of form. The win at Tannadice means Celtic is now 30 games without losing a domestic match, less than halfway from the record that started in the 16/17 season.

The fact that this is even being discussed this season is unbelievable. The turnaround from being 25 points adrift to talking about aiming for an unbeaten stretching out over months demonstrates how good a manager Celtic have.

Speaking about this, Postecoglou said; [Daily Record]

“It gives you something to aim for.

“However, I think what’s more important is we have to continue to improve as a team. We are taking our first steps and it’s only been nine months.

“But this has given us a good platform to improve. I’m sure there are more challenges ahead and we need to tackle them in the same way we have so far.”

Not to take anything away from the Rodgers achievement, but the league seems stronger this season than ever. Teams are making it harder for Celtic to break them down, identify weaknesses, and exploit them like set pieces.

Our rivals have improved too; the days of 5-1 at Ibrox may be over. Saying that, the last derby could have been worse than that!

Postecoglou knows that the record will most likely remain in place. It’s unlikely to be broken but you always have to aim high.
