After he missed Celtic’s dominant 3-0 victory over St. Mirren yesterday, an update has been provided on the fitness of Liam Scales.
The Irishman wasn’t in the squad for the crucial clash, Maik Nawrocki coming into the starting eleven in his absence.
Nawrocki did a commendable job, nullifying opposition threats and looking to play penetrative forward passes.
He came off for Stephen Welsh with just under half an hour to go but given the faith Brendan Rodgers has shown in Scales this season, one assumes he will immediately return to the starting lineup when fit.

On the condition of the former Shamrock Rovers man, the boss was upbeat. He said: [Football Scotland] “Liam is different (to Maeda who is out for the season). Hopefully he’ll be OK.”
Although he will be welcomed back into the team with open arms, Scales wasn’t half as much of a miss as Maeda on Saturday. The same will likely ring true for the remainder of the time when both are unavailable.
Celtic can’t seem to catch a break with injuries this season. It feels as though the team has had no issues for only a few minutes and all of a sudden, the absences are piling up again.
