Philippe Clement Reveals Celtic Fan Interactions

Philippe Clement has revealed he has been heckled by Celtic fans while out in Glasgow, but the Ibrox boss claims he has no issue with it.

Speaking ahead of the Glasgow Derby, a fixture which he lost in December, the Belgian spoke about life in Glasgow and the passion the city has for football.

Claiming everyone is respectful, however some Celtic fans are a little less so towards him.

“People are passionate but also respectful here. When they are from the other side of the [city], sometimes a little bit less. But not that it’s like, violent, you know. It’s more just [them] showing their emotions. I don’t mind that.” He told Sky Sports Via X.

There are countless tales over the years of players from each side getting stick from the other support in the city. Many players shied away from going into the centre of Glasgow, especially after a Derby.

It has turned violent in the past though, Neil Lennon was famously attacked from behind by two thugs in Glasgow’s Ashton lane area when he was a coach at the club in 2008. [RecordSport]

Thankfully we don’t see incidents like that on a regular basis. At any club if you have rivals in the same city, the opposition manager is going to get some stick, as long as it’s light hearted, like Clement seems to suggest then it’s absolutely harmless.
