Daizen Maeda’s incredible form continued on Saturday as he starred in Celtic’s 5-2 win over St Mirren, scoring once and winning a penalty in another dominant display.

On BBC’s Sportscene, Cammy Bell was left blown away by Maeda’s performance, particularly his composure in front of goal.
Neil McCann – who would usually provide his expert analysis – was missing from the studio. Instead, he was on the Rangers bench as part of Barry Ferguson’s coaching staff while they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Ibrox.
It was Micheal Stewart who joined the former goalie in the studio.
He said: “This goal from Maeda… phenomenal touch inside and the composure to slide it past the goalkeeper. He’s been phenomenal and growing in confidence.”
Bell was full of praise for the Japanese forward’s relentless work rate and ever-improving finishing ability as he took his tally to 26 goals this season.
With Celtic now just three wins away from securing the Scottish Premiership title, Maeda’s sensational form has been a key factor in their dominance this season.
Rangers’ slip-up now means that if Celtic win their next three games, they’ll be crowned champions at St Johnstone. The Hoops face Rangers at home on St Patrick’s weekend, then host Hearts before making the trip to Perth.
With Celtic storming towards four in a row, and their 55th title, it’s a great time to be a Celtic fan.
