Peter Schmeichel has expressed his delight over his son Kasper’s recent move to Celtic, describing it as a “perfect fit” during his appearance on the latest episode of The Overlap alongside Gary Neville, Jill Scott, Jamie Carragher, and Roy Keane.
Speaking about Kasper’s summer transfer, Peter praised the atmosphere surrounding the club and the opportunities it has provided. Reflecting on his son’s time in Glasgow so far, the legendary former Manchester United goalkeeper emphasised the size and stature of Celtic, calling it a “massive, massive club” and commended the alignment between Kasper and the Hoops.
“Celtic is just a massive, massive club… It’s perfect, it’s a perfect fit for him,” Peter said.
One of the key factors in Kasper’s satisfaction at Celtic, according to his father, has been the chance to play in the Champions League again. Peter was pleased to see Kasper competing on Europe’s grandest stage, with the allure of the Champions League often playing a big role in attracting top players to Celtic. “He’s back in the Champions League now, so it’s a good move for him,” he added.

Peter also highlighted Kasper’s connection with the current Celtic manager, praising the working relationship and how it complements his son’s style. “It’s perfect with the manager, he knows the atmosphere around Celtic,” Schmeichel noted.
The ‘keeper played his second Champions League match for the Hoops on Tuesday night. It was his busiest game in a Celtic jersey so far, as he conceded 7 goals. However, had it not been for the Dane between the sticks it could have easily been double figures.
The Hoops will pick themselves up and prepare for the trip to Dingwall on Sunday.
