PETER LAWWELL is the man who is pulling the strings with all of Celtic’s transfers.
It would have been Celtic’s chief executive who sent Arsenal a polite ‘no thanks’ over the weekend to their second official bid for Kieran Tierney as the London club tried to land the Celtic star.
The Europa League club are trying their best to get Kieran in for as low an amount as possible with no hurry to do the deal or slap in a figure which Celtic simply can’t refuse.
It’s all about offering as little as possible up front and in that respect, Peter Lawwell must appreciate what Arsenal are trying to do. Unlucky for the London club, they merely adopted the dark, Peter Lawwell was born in it, moulded by it even.
The Celtic CEO is well versed in negotiations and while this may frustrate Celtic fans with regards to players coming in, it stands us in good stead when it comes to getting the very best deal for our players.
Arsenal are aware of the fee Celtic will budge at, they haven’t hit it, and if they come to the realisation that Peter Lawwell is not messing about, which he isn’t, then if they really want Kieran they have to pay the price stated.
