Scott Allan has spoken about the promises he got from Brendan Rodgers at the beginning of last season and why he didn’t get his move to Hibernian last year.
Speaking to OpenGoal, Allan claims he was told by Peter Lawwell that the only reason he wouldn’t be moving to Hibernian early was because he’d done them too many favours for the Easter Road club in the past.
When asked about why the move didn’t happen, Allan said:
“Why? Peter said I couldn’t go to Hibs. They always said they had done too many favours for Hibs in the past, so that was off the table.
“I thought that would have got pushed through. And then the second part of the season it was doing extra sessions at night that kept me going.
“I just wanted to go and get back to playing. I had done the loan stints plenty of times in my career and it’s not always the best thing for you.
“I thought the Hibs move would have happened and it didn’t so that extra four months was what I had to go through.”
Allan never made the cut at Celtic Park for whatever reason. Why he was signed in the first place under Ronny Deila still escapes many.
The hard feelings between Hibs and Celtic could be down to the John McGinn transfer saga where Lawwell took a bloody nose in that exchange.
Celtic and Hibernian could meet in the Scottish Cup final later this season where Allan would be looking to stick it to his old club.
Being told you can’t play for four months more because of a fall out between executives must have been a tough pill to swallow.
Celtic have already knocked Hibernian out of a cup competition this season with Allan finding the going tough against his old side.
