The 2023/24 season is finally upon us. Celtic’s campaign gets underway this Saturday and ahead of it, Brendan Rodgers has issued a cry of support to the Hoops’ faithful.
The Irishman spoke to Sky Sports about how he previously departed the club back in 2019, admitting he doesn’t regret his actions: “I made a decision to leave which I didn’t regret. Celtic done well after I left and I had a good spell at Leicester and I come back and I’ve had a great support from the Celtic supporters. You won’t always get everyone onside but my experience in life tells me that people forget when it suits and they forget when it’s convenient.”

Rodgers’ message about people forgetting is almost certainly aimed at certain sections of the Celtic support. When he left four years ago, many were left aggrieved but now, most fans are right behind him. To the few that aren’t and the ones that are, Rodgers issued a rallying cry: “I’m pretty sure in the first time I was here not everyone was behind me and it’ll probably be the same here but as long as everyone supports the team and gives them everything like they normally do at Celtic, I think we can have a great season again.”
It is set to be yet another busy season at Parkhead but that does not mean success won’t be nigh. Unity is key in football and if every member of the fanbase is together, it will be yet another trophy-laden campaign in Paradise.
