Paulo Bernardo Reacts To Celtic Win On Instagram

Paulo Bernardo was the latest Celtic player to get the chance in the third midfield role in the team on Saturday against Livingston. The Benfica loanee didn’t particularly stand out, but at the same time, he wasn’t noticeably poor.

After the 2-0 victory, Bernardo posted on Instagram. He hailed the win as ‘good’:

Against Dundee on Tuesday, the 21-year-old will be eager to keep his place in the team. He competes with players such as David Turnbull and Tomoki Iwata for a spot, but he was the preferred choice of Brendan Rodgers on Saturday.

The fact he goes unnoticed in games is perhaps a testament to how simplistic he is, and that he carries out the basics effectively.

Over the years, Celtic have had several players of this ilk and they are crucial to the working of any team.

He will first look to get the nod on Boxing Day with a view to getting in the team for Saturday’s crucial Glasgow derby. Manager Brendan Rodgers, however, has admitted there is a chance Reo Hatate could make the team for said encounter.

If the Japan internationalist is fit and able, Bernardo’s chances of a start would be blown out of proportion, although all he can do is remain consistent. This is precisely what he did against Livi, and a similar performance midweek would do him no harm.
