The 21-year-old, who played a key role in helping Celtic clinch the Premiership and Scottish Cup, is reportedly keen on returning to Glasgow. However, negotiations reportedly hit a snag over his wage demands.

According to the Portuguese publication Record, Bernardo is among several players at Benfica who are seeking new opportunities after spending last season on loan. The report indicates that Bernardo is waiting for an agreement between Benfica and Celtic that would allow him to join the Scottish champions permanently. This does seem to contradict that it’s his personal demands holding up a deal.

He is expected to return to pre-season in Portugal with Benfica.

Meanwhile, Celtic have made an approach to Norwich City hoping to strike a permanent deal for Adam Idah. The Irishman spent the last season on loan at the Hoops last season and the Scottish Champions are keen to bring him to the club permanently.
