Celtic are moving closer to securing the permanent transfer of Paulo Bernardo from Benfica, with a bid of approximately £4.2 million on the table and accepted.

The negotiation now hinges on the percentage of a future sell-on clause, according to Mais Futebol.
Bernardo, who spent last season on loan at Celtic, made a notable impact, featuring in 34 games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and contributing three assists.
It was his drive with the ball and eventual shot that rebounded to Adam Idah who secured the Scottish Cup win for Celtic last season.
The ongoing discussions are focused on how much of a percentage Benfica will retain in any future transfer of Bernardo. This arrangement is what was in place with Jota, which saw a chunk of the fee Celtic received from Al-Ittihad head to the Eagles.
It will be down to Bernardo to negotiate a wage package once a sell-on clause has been agreed. Although, if recent reports are something to go by, the financial package for Bernardo himself could be a stumbling block.
