CELTIC have today announced that the wives of the late Stevie Chalmers and Billy McNeill have been invited to unfurl the league flag on August 3rd at Celtic Park.
Liz McNeill and Sadie Chalmers will do the honours.
We lost both Celtic legends this year to dementia and the club and Celtic support has rallied around both families after their passing. Touching scenes on the Celtic Way for both on the Celtic Way before they were laid to rest
It’s very fitting this will happen as Celtic kick off their challenge for nine in a row. Hoping to emulate the great Lisbon lions and Jock Stein side.
Celtic fans in attendance will be sure to give the pair a fantastic reception when we unfurl that flag for an 8th consecutive year.
Both Billy and Stevie are giants in Celtic’s history and are immortalised for what they did for our great club.
Hopefully the bhoys can follow that up by kick-starting their campaign with three points against St Johnstone.
Celtic should be congratulated for making the gesture.
