Liam Scales has revealed that Celtic are in control of his future this summer.
The Irishman initially joined the Hoops back in the summer of 2021 for 600,000 euros (Transfermarkt) from Shamrock Rovers but failed to make an impression in his first season in Glasgow.
Ange Postecoglou never seemed to favour the defender and thus, he was shipped out on loan to Aberdeen at the beginning of the current campaign.
In the Granite city, Scales has become a first team regular who has made 26 league appearances for a side who sit third in the Scottish Premiership as we speak.
As much as he may want to continue on with the Dons and former Hoops man Barry Robson (if he keeps the job) next season, Scales has revealed it will be Celtic who decide his future come the summer. He told Press and Journal:
“I am only looking towards the end of the season.
“I will need to report back to Celtic and see what the story is from there.
“They are in control of all that. It is out of my hands.”
It will be intriguing to see what happens with the 24 year old this summer.
He has undoubtedly had a solid season thus far up at Pittodrie although his parent club will decide his future which will likely not be at Parkhead.
This is down to the options and sheer strength Celtic have in both the left back and centre back positions.
Nevertheless under Ange, no player can count themselves out.
