Opinion: The Adam Idah Saga is Tiresome and Needs Ended

Seven weeks into the summer transfer window and the continual speculation over a permanent Celtic move for Adam Idah is nothing short of tiresome. Hearing continual updates about his misbehaviour at Norwich is becoming tedious, and the saga must be ended.

Idah’s desire for a long-term return to Glasgow is as clear as day. Whether it be through his social media activity or deliberate disobedience, he has made his intentions both to his current club and Celtic coherent.

Despite his actions, the Scottish champions have stood still. Other than a reported £4m bid, which was swiftly rejected, the club have made little inroads into a permanent deal.

Now, it remains to be seen how much Norwich want for Idah, but one can’t imagine it being above the £8m mark. Celtic have a wealth of cash reserves in the bank and should cough up the money (within reason) to make a deal happen and finally put a line under this monotonous debacle.

Brendan Rodgers made it public in May that he wants Idah brought to Parkhead permanently, and the club should grant him his wish. Although Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has stated the 23-year-old is part of his plans this season, that can only go so far until money and the player’s desires come into the frame.

There are four weeks left of the summer transfer window and Celtic need two strikers. Bringing in Idah permanently should be top of the priority list. The sooner a deal is done, the quicker fans and the player can finally move on from this fiasco.
