This is not a rumour or speculation piece, this is a ‘what if’ kind of deal.
Watching Celtic playing outstanding, intelligent football without a recognised left winger got me thinking. What if we still had Moi Elyounoussi.
The Norwegian winger played very well in a failing side and got among the goals often with little direction are focus to what we’re doing now.

It’s incredible to me that some people don’t rate Moi and when we put the image above onto Twitter, there were plenty of people saying he couldn’t handle Ange Ball.
In total, Moi made 67 appearances for the club; scoring 24 goals with 14 assist. [Transfermarkt]
I’d say he’s the exact type of winger Ange would love to have in the squad.
Now back at Southampton, the winger was on the bench and didn’t get onto the field as his club managed a credible 1-1 draw with Manchester Utd at St Mary’s. A massive waste of talent on the bench, but the player has to prove himself.
Moi made it clear he was not coming back for a third spell in the summer and was going to carve out his career down south for now.

Celtic haven’t replaced the winger as of yet. We’ve had Ryan Christie, Kyogo Furuhashi and James Forrest all fill in on the left-wing. Christie has been brilliant out there at times, Kyogo has also done well but you feel his presence is missed up top when he’s out wide and James Forrest has been ok but nowhere near the level we need on the left-hand side.
It will be interesting to see if Celtic go out and sign a left winger. Presumably, the door is shut on a move for Moi Elyounoussi, getting on the bench would have been a big deal for the player. He’ll be hoping to bide his time and take his chance when it comes.
Ange Postecoglou will still want more players in the door but can we find someone to make the position their own?
