Celtic managed to get a draw in the end against Livingston on Wednesday night and with results elsewhere going our way it was very much a point gained.
Dissecting ourselves after the game isn’t the most popular thing to do after we’ve extended our lead at the top of the SPFL but some things need to be addressed.
The 3-5-2 which has given Celtic some good results since January only works on a more consistent basis if you have the personnel to pull it off.
We see two players suffering in-particular from Neil Lennon’s 3-5-2 mindset; James Forrest and Greg Taylor.
Both are being asked to play as wing backs but neither are great in the position. Taylor has had most of his joy as an out and out left back while we all know about James Forrest’s attacking prowess which is being stifled by the formation.
It should be simple, if Neil Lennon wants to play that formation we have players who are more natural in those positions. Boli Bolingoli and Jeremie Frimpong can be seen bombing up and down the wings. Boli has his own faults but there’s no doubt he would play better than Taylor in this system.
Taylor hasn’t been great but I’m reluctant to write him off when he’s playing that position. Forrest only has to have one bad half before some fans get on his back. Let’s get these bhoys into their correct positions or take them out the team when the system doesn’t suit.
