Opinion: My Major Celtic U-Turn

I couldn’t imagine typing this last season but as we get set to find out who will play in today’s game against Dundee, there’s a massive argument for dropping David Turnbull and reinstating Ryan Christie to the starting XI.

So far, David has not looked at his best in Ange’s system, I’m positive that will come over time, but while he adjusts on the training field, should Ryan Christie be put in his preferred position?

The midfielder has looked energised and hungry since the start of the season. Scoring a great header against Jablonec after coming off the bench.

Last season Turnbull was the man and Ryan looked off the pace. In the early going of this season, the opposite is true.

Ryan’s current Celtic deal runs out at the end of this year, and he’s free to talk to clubs right now a bout a move in January. Could he play for Celtic until then and facilitate David coming to terms with what’s being asked of him in a Postecoglou Celtic team?

The pair could share the position in the first half of the season and if Ryan can keep up his good form, he will only benefit the team.

There’s been little talk of Ryan signing a new Celtic deal to this point. You have to assume he’ll be out the door until told otherwise.

Do you believe Ryan Christie should get the nod? Comment below.
