Just like many positions across the park for Celtic this season, left-back has been a big problem for the Hoops switching between both Greg Taylor and AC Milan loanee Diego Laxalt.
It is almost certain that this summer we will see a new face come in that position with Laxalt heading back to Italy and it is unlikely that the club will look to make that deal permanent after a poor campaign.
One name who has been mentioned in the past as a possible signing target in the left-back position is Hibernian youngster Josh Doig.
Another potential target for Celtic.
Josh Doig.
Only 18, Doig has made 30 appearances in his breakthrough season.

This season, Doig has gone from the reserve side to first-team regular, taking the place of veteran full-back Lewis Stevenson and his improvement has been visible week-on-week. With pace to burn, you can see the energy he possesses to take control of the left-hand side of the pitch and give trouble to opposition defenders up against him.
Due to his performances, he has not only been linked with a move to Glasgow but also some Premier League teams such as Leicester City have been touted to make a move for the 18-year old.
In my opinion, it would be a smart move to get Doig whilst we can. At just 18, he is showing the sort of quality he has but will also have a lot more learning and improvement to do.
Some may not agree and could prefer to develop our own current batch of youngsters with the likes of Adam Montgomery. I don’t see why we can’t have them competing against one and other to develop and better themselves as players though.
If we were to sign him there is a chance that he would be loaned out, possibly back to Hibs to guarantee minutes. But for me, it would be a great acquisition to sign up a talented player from Scotland such as Doig.
