Opinion: John Kennedy Celtic Announcement Looks Inevitable

Given things are pointing towards Celtic attempting to sign Ange Postecoglou for the vacant managerial position and the timeline put forward by UEFA over clearing red tape, are we about to receive a communication from Celtic telling us John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan are about to take pre-season training?

A UEFA spokesperson has claimed it could take weeks for the Australian coach to be handed the green light to become Celtic manager.

If that’s the case, we have players who aren’t at this summer’s Euros due back in two weeks time.

Meaning, right now, there could be no manager in place for the first day back at Lennoxtown, which is an absolute unmitigated disaster.

If there’s no manager installed by then, it will likely fall to John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan if they don’t decide they are leaving the club before then.

Kennedy and Strachan have been in a holding pattern for a while now and their futures are still up in the air. What a kick in the teeth it would be if they’re asked to take training but are then moved on shortly after.

The other scenario is both are kept on when the manager clearly hasn’t worked with either before. It’s just a sorry state of affairs.
